IntroductionThis CD-ROM is designed to give agricultural employers in California a handy reference to Cal/OSHA's Heat Illness Prevention regulation §3395. Background In August 2005, the Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board promulgated an emergency standard, which took effect August 22, 2005 to regulate heat illness prevention. The objective of the emergency standard proposed to significantly reduce both the frequency and the severity of occupational heat-related illness in all outdoor places of employment. On December 15, 2005 the Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board extended the emergency regulation for another 120 days, expiring on April 20, 2006. A permanent regulation was approved by OSHSB on June 15, 2006 and became effective on July 27, 2006. Click here to read the permanent regulation. This guide to the new regulation will provide agricultural employers with helpful materials to assist them in complying with the regulation. In addition to the actual regulation, the guide contains an analysis of the regulation, training materials and sample procedures. Some of the material in this guide are Acrobat Portable
