Food Safety - Farm & Packinghouse Record Keeping Sheets (Cornell University, Free): These free, downloadable Record Keeping Sheets will help growers implement GAP's and the appropriate record keeping on their operations. Record keeping is critical, particularly if you plan to have a third party audit or quality assurance certification. These record keeping sheets are templates and should be customized to reflect your standard operation procedures. These sheets were developed in collaboration with New York State Department of Agricultural and Markets Farm Inspectors and Cornell Cooperative Extension Education. A Growers' Guide: This 28-page color booklet provides
an overview of good agricultural practices that can be implemented
on farm and in packing houses as well as background information
on foodborne illnesses related to produce consumption. Reduce Microbial Risks with
GAPs (English & Spanish): This bi-fold brochure
summarizes good agricultural practices from pre-planting through
post-harvest handling. GAPs Presentation CD (English):
The CD includes the "Food Safety Begins on the Farm" booklet in
PDF format, a series of PowerPoint presentations on the program,
and additional GAP's related information. Worker Food Safety Laminated
Posters (English & Spanish): Set of three laminated
posters containing graphic images and text in English and Spanish
instructing proper use of field toilets, proper disposal of used
toilet paper, and proper hand washing. A Grower Self Assessment of
Food Safety Risks Manual (English only): The assessment
is designed to guide growers through the process of identifying
risks particular to their operation, developing appropriate solutions,
implementing good agricultural practices and developing a farm food
safety plan. This document has 21 sections allowing growers to evaluate
sanitation, worker hygiene, wild animals, water use, farm biosecurity,
and crisis management. Each section contains worksheets so that
growers can document their progress and plan for GAP's implementation. Fruits, Vegetables, and Food
Safety: Health and Hygiene on the Farm video: Designed
to be part of a comprehensive worker training program, this 15-minute
video offers guidance to workers on proper handwashing and toilet
use, with emphasis on how their health affects the safety of fresh
fruits and vegetables. Hygiene topices discussed in this video are
reinforced in the Field Hygiene Poster Series. Available in DVD
and VHS formats, each video contains both the English and Spanish
versions. A Hmong version is available on a separate DVD. "Fun Fruit & Very Vegetable
Tour" Coloring Book (English & Spanish): Originally
developed for children of farm workers, this book follows three
children as they tour the United States produce industry to see
how fruits and vegetables are grown, harvested and sold. Main learning
themes include the importance of handwashing and the nutritional
value of fruit and vegetables consumption. Each book is bilingual
and appropriate for ages 5-10. Hand-Washing Container Sticker:
This self-adhesive sticker states "This Water Is for Hand-washing
Only." Complies with Cal/OSHA Field Sanitation regulation requiring
the labeling of hand-washing containers. Pesticide Emergency Numbers:
These 3¾" x 6" stickers comply with DPR pesticide posting
requirement. Safety Inspection Survey:
Inspection form and checklist used for documenting safety inspections.

Instructions and Record: Cal/OSHA requires ag employers

Manual: Employers with one or more CMV drivers must
test them for drug and alcohol misuse. This comprehensive program
provides an overview of the requirement, a checklist of record keeping
requirements, a model program, and a driver training program. Emergency Action Plan Manual:
Title 8, CCR § 3220 and § 3221 require California employers to have
a written Emergency Action Plan and Fire Prevention Plan when a
company has established emergency procedures. This manual helps
you establish emergency procedures, including methods to account
for employee safety after evacuations, and provides a training program
for your employees. The manual discusses alarm systems, evacuations,
and general emergency preparedness. Hazard Communication Program
Manual: As well as explaining the Cal/OSHA Hazard
Communication requirement, this manual contains a model program
with related forms and logs, hazard communication training program
(recorded on audio cassettes in English and Spanish), illustration
of training material, and trainee handouts. Heat-Illness
Compliance CD-ROM: The Farm Employers Labor Service
(FELS®) has produced a compliance CD-ROM containing a review of
the new regulation and aids to assist agricultural employers to
comply with the regulation. These aids include safety materials,
company policies and procedures, and useful web links. Injury and Illness Prevention
Workbook: Cal/OSHA regulation §3203 requires employers
to develop and implement an Injury and Illness Prevention Program
(IIPP), also known as a SB 198 safety program. This workbook enables
you to write your own IIPP. The workbook contains sample safety
policies relating to the seven elements of a required IIPP and provides
sample work rules, forms, inspection checklists, and pesticide first
aid procedures. Instructor's Guide - Tractor
Safety: The instructor's packet was developed to aid
in the training of tractor drivers. The packet contains Instructor's
Guide, visual aids (arm and leg injuries), 3 brochures (handouts)
and audio cassette. The materials were developed by University of
California Department of Applied Behavioral Sciences. Lockout/Blockout Procedures Manual:
As well as explaining the Cal/OSHA Lockout/Blockout requirement,
this manual contains a sample program with related forms and logs,
lockout/blockout training program (recorded on audio cassettes in
English and Spanish), illustration of training material, and trainee
handouts. Pesticide Hazard Communication
Program for Pesticide Handlers: This pesticide training
program for handlers and field employees helps California employers
comply with pesticide hazard communication regulations. Recorded

This comprehensive manual reviews the respiratory protection requirement
for CAL/OSHA that changed in 1999. Also contains a model written

Department of Applied Behavioral Sciences includes instructor's

includes a heat stress guide suitable for meeting the requirement
of California Code of Regulations, Title 3, §6724 that agricultural
employers include in their pesticide handler training a section
on "prevention, recognition, and first aid for heat related

Agricultural Workers: This 3-page pesticide program
was written by Fresno Farm Advisor Steve Sutter. The program comes
